Introduction
DART stands for "Develop And Release Toolkit".
The DART project is a collection of best practices for developing and maintaining low volume computer based appliances.
DART projects are almost always deployed on Debian-Live. Although DART principals can be applied to the development of appliances using a wide range of hardware, software, and operating systems, the code base discussed here is all geared around a Debian-Live deployment.

A discussion of all of the ways to setup and use a Debian-Live DART based system is beyond the scope of this HowTo. This HowTo assumes you are using a x86 64-bit PC, and that you are setting up all of the required partitions on a single internal hard drive. There are many of other configurations, but I will not refer to them in this HowTo. (Most of them are logically identical to this setup.)
Here is a link to a generic discussion of Debian-Live & DART configurations.
